A film colorist working closely with your production

Remote services connect your production to the studio without requiring your team to travel. The starting point is the intention behind the image: references from the director and cinematographer, the visual language and the film’s intended screening or delivery destination. Films, series and commercials have different needs, so the scope is agreed for each project.

Color correction balances exposure, contrast and color and seeks consistency between shots. Color grading develops the creative look. Audiovisual colorimetry helps guide these decisions in a controlled environment with calibrated FSI monitors, DaVinci Resolve, a Tangent Elements panel and ScopeBox.

How remote color grading works

  1. Brief and quote. Send the runtime, desired deadline, visual references and delivery destinations. Include the editing stage and available material so we can assess the scope before starting.
  2. Transfer and preparation. We agree on file formats, organisation and source materials during planning. The studio has a dedicated 500 Mb/s upload connection; transfer times also depend on the file volume and the sender’s connection.
  3. DaVinci Resolve color grading. The treatment follows the agreed references and the needs of each sequence, aiming for a coherent visual narrative.
  4. Remote review. You receive a review copy via a link and send feedback by message or email. Included revisions and approval arrangements are agreed in the quote. A review copy does not replace assessment on a calibrated monitor.
  5. Final render and delivery. Once approved, final files are prepared according to the agreed scope. Formats, versions, deadline and transfer method are defined for the production.

Remote color grading for productions in Florida

The physical studio is in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Production teams in Florida, USA, can send material and review the work remotely, with communication and review times agreed around the time difference. Discuss your screening and delivery requirements at the start so the scope is clear.

The same remote workflow is available for productions elsewhere. Information is also available in Portuguese and in Spanish. Remote service does not imply a physical studio in the production’s location.

Color grading and DCP mastering for digital cinema

If the project is headed for a cinema or festival, color grading and DCP creation and mastering can be quoted together. The festival or venue’s specifications guide the cinema package, and required versions are agreed after reviewing the material.

Before we begin

Do I need to be in Rio de Janeiro?

Not for remote services. Planning, material transfer, feedback and delivery can take place remotely. Any in-person stage must be agreed separately.

Does this include editing or DaVinci Resolve training?

This page describes color correction and color grading services. Editing, other post-production stages or training should not be assumed to be included; describe what you need so we can establish the scope.

What does it cost, and how long does it take?

Every quote is tailored to the project. Runtime, source material, delivery versions, revisions and deadline influence the work. Send these details for a proposal suited to your production.
